The music performances are of American folk music, traditional children's music and many of the good old songs you know and love. Audience participation is an integral part of every performance, including sing-alongs, rounds, sequence/repetition and physical movement.
The band was originally formed in 1986 and quickly gained popularity with many performances at local concerts, schools and festivals.This success lead to the recording of their first album, "All Aboard" in 1990. The group's expanded popularity increased it's performance schedule in the 1990's with appearances at the N.W. Folklife Festival in Seattle, Portland's Artquake, The Bite, and Pioneer Courthouse Square. Other Northwest shows include The Slice of Summer Concert Series in Canby, Tyron Creek State Park in Lake Oswego , The Oregon Folklife Festival in Corvallis, Portland Children's Museum and The Lewis and Clark Railway excursions. "On Track", the band's second album was released in 1993 . in this album the music expanded with the inclusion of didjeridu, accordion and Celtic harp.
T & O Railroad continues to lay down new track, performing original songs, as well as cover the great music of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Stephen Foster, Elizabeth Cotton, Bill Staines and others.
